Mistake 1: Booking the Cheapest Flight Without Checking Transit Visa Requirements
The cheapest flight from Pakistan to Europe is often via a Gulf carrier with a long layover in Dubai, Doha, or Istanbul. But if you book a flight with a 14-hour layover in a Schengen country (like Frankfurt or Amsterdam), you may need a Schengen transit visa. Many Pakistani travellers have been denied boarding at the originating airport because they did not check this in advance.
The rule of thumb: layovers under 24 hours in the same airport terminal do not usually require a transit visa. Layovers requiring you to change terminals, collect baggage, or pass through passport control usually do. Always check the transit visa requirements for your layover country before booking.
Mistake 2: Carrying Too Much Cash in One Place
Pakistani travellers carry too much cash, often in one wallet or one bag. If that wallet is stolen or that bag is lost, the trip is over. If you buy a phone abroad and bring it back to Pakistan, you must register the IMEI with PTA (Pakistan Telecommunication Authority) within 30 days of arrival, or the phone will be blocked. Pakistani Umrah pilgrims overpack more than any other category of traveller we see. The standard Umrah pilgrim brings 30 kg of clothing, food, gifts, and bedding for a 10-day trip that requires 5 kg of clothing. The result is excess baggage fees, broken suitcases, and a physically exhausting trip.

Phones die. Apps crash. Cloud storage sometimes does not sync. A 4.5-star hotel on Booking.com may have been a 4.5-star hotel in 2019 and a 3-star hotel in 2026 due to management change, renovation, or neglect. Filter reviews to the last 6 months only. Look for mentions of cleanliness, hot water, Wi-Fi quality, and noise — these are the things that actually affect your stay.
Mistake 8: Falling for Common Tourist Scams
