ThinkPad P1 Gen 2 Pakistan — Why I Am Not Lowering the Price Below 175K
Every week, someone messages me on WhatsApp and says: "Brother, can you do 150K?" Or "I will buy it right now for 160K." I understand — in Pakistan, negotiating is part of the culture. But I am not lowering the price below 175,000 PKR, and I want to explain why. Not because I am being stubborn, but because 175,000 PKR is already below what this machine is worth.
The OLED Panel Alone Is Worth 80,000-100,000 PKR
If I removed the OLED panel from this laptop and sold just the panel — not the laptop, just the 4K OLED touchscreen — it would sell for 80,000 to 100,000 PKR in Pakistan. OLED panels are not available in Pakistani retail. There is no shop in Hafeez Center or Hall Road that sells OLED laptop panels. The only way to get one is to import it, and after import duties, customs, and sales tax, the panel alone costs more than many consumer laptops.
So when someone offers me 150,000 PKR for the entire laptop, they are asking me to sell the OLED panel for 150,000 PKR and throw in the Xeon processor, Quadro GPU, carbon fiber chassis, 16GB RAM, 512GB SSD, Thunderbolt 3, Wi-Fi 6, and Premier Support for free. That does not make sense.
The Xeon and Quadro Are Worth 70,000-90,000 PKR Together
The Intel Xeon E-2276M processor costs 40,000-50,000 PKR if you could source it separately — which you cannot, because it requires a workstation motherboard. The NVIDIA Quadro T2000 4GB costs 30,000-40,000 PKR. Together, the processor and GPU alone are worth 70,000-90,000 PKR.
Add the OLED panel (80,000-100,000 PKR) and you are already at 150,000-190,000 PKR — just for three components. The chassis, RAM, SSD, Thunderbolt controller, Wi-Fi 6, Dolby Audio, IR camera, fingerprint, dTPM, and Premier Support add another 50,000-60,000 PKR in value.
I Could Price It at 220,000 PKR and It Would Still Sell
Honestly, I could ask 220,000 PKR for this machine and it would be a fair price. The component value is 208,000-268,000 PKR. A new equivalent in Pakistan costs 400,000-500,000 PKR. At 220,000 PKR, this ThinkPad would still be the cheapest Xeon + Quadro + OLED laptop in Pakistan.
I chose 175,000 PKR because I want this machine to go to someone who will actually use it — a professional who needs workstation hardware and cannot afford the 400,000+ PKR that a new equivalent costs. If I price it at 220,000 PKR, I narrow the buyer pool to people who could almost afford a new machine. At 175,000 PKR, it reaches the freelancer, the student, the startup founder who needs professional tools but has a limited budget.
Why 150,000 PKR Does Not Work
At 150,000 PKR, I would be selling the machine below the value of its three most expensive components (OLED + Xeon + Quadro = 150,000-190,000 PKR). That means the carbon fiber chassis, RAM, SSD, Thunderbolt, Wi-Fi 6, Premier Support, keyboard, and everything else would be free. No seller — not in Pakistan, not anywhere — sells a machine below the component value of its three main parts.
If you find a laptop with a Xeon, Quadro, and OLED for 150,000 PKR in Pakistan, buy it immediately. It does not exist.
The Price Will Not Go Down — It Will Go Up
If this machine does not sell in the next few weeks, I will likely increase the price to 195,000 PKR. The Rupee keeps falling. Equivalent machines in the international market are getting more expensive. The component value of this laptop increases every month because the same components cost more to import.
175,000 PKR is the current price. It is not the floor — it is the ceiling. If you are waiting for the price to drop, it will not. The only direction this price goes is up.
