Islamabad's airport is the quiet overachiever of Pakistani aviation. As of the November 2026 boards it fields 28 airlines flying nonstop to 38 destinations across 18 countries — the widest nonstop web in the country — with a domestic layer that includes the northern gateways no other big airport serves well. Booking sites list it under both of its names, Islamabad International and Benazir Bhutto International, so search both before assuming a fare does not exist. This decoder maps the capital's board in the spirit of our Faisalabad airport guide. Islamabad se duniya kaafi seedhi hai — but the file discipline still decides how the journey ends.

The Umrah Wall: 455 Saudi Departures a Month

The corridor that defines this airport is Saudi Arabia. Jeddah alone carries 212 scheduled flights a month from Islamabad — the densest Umrah route on any Pakistani board — flanked by Riyadh at 109, Dammam at 96, Madinah at 32 and Al Qassim at 6, for a combined roughly 455 Saudi rotations a month. PIA's 22-destination network anchors it, with Saudia, flyadeal and flynas spreading the load. What the board cannot do is waive the sequence: the Nusuk-linked hotel and transport file still comes before the ticket, exactly as our Nusuk rules guide explains, and the 30-day entry window still punishes travelers who book flights before dates are certain.

Riyadh Air: The New Daily Dreamliner — Currently Via Al Qassim

The newest name on the board is also the headline. Riyadh Air inaugurated daily nonstop Islamabad–Riyadh service on 14 August 2026, flying Boeing 787-9 Dreamliners — and since 25 October 2026 its Riyadh flights have been operating via Al Qassim (ELQ) — which is why Gassim shows six rotations a month. The lesson is the one our Riyadh Air guide teaches: in a season that keeps reshaping Saudi schedules, verify the routing at booking and again 48 hours out.

The Long-Haul Board: Dreamliners to Heathrow, a Gatwick Line, Birmingham at Zero

PIA flies daily Islamabad–London Heathrow with 787-9 Dreamliners under its winter schedule, Manchester holds 16 rotations a month, and British Airways operates the Islamabad–Gatwick line (BA 2060 on the departure boards) — two London airports plus a third UK city. The board even lists Birmingham at zero flights this month, and that zero is a countdown: PIA's thrice-weekly Islamabad–Birmingham service starts 1 December 2026, mapped in our Birmingham restart guide. The honest asterisk is Toronto, 6,822 miles and about fourteen hours — reported suspended since late October, so treat Canada as a one-stop project for now and read our PIA Canada suspension decoder before planning.

The Neighbourhood Board: Skardu, Gilgit and the Central Asian Web

Domestically, Islamabad is the only practical springboard for the north: Karachi at 353 rotations a month, Quetta at 105, Lahore at 56, and the mountain pair — Skardu at 40 and Gilgit at 24 — that no fog-season plan should treat casually, per our winter fog guide. From 9 November the board grows south as well: South Air, the ATR operator that began scheduled flying in July, launches its Islamabad–Multan link — the capital's first new domestic spoke of the season. Internationally, Turkish Airlines' Istanbul line is the business-class bridge into Europe; Emirates, Qatar and Etihad run the Gulf hubs; Thai reaches Bangkok; Air China, China Southern and Uzbekistan stitch the Asia web; SalamAir and the Kabul, Tehran and Baghdad rotations complete it. And the Schengen question starts here too: Greek visa appointments, now booked online and filed at the Islamabad VAC, are decoded in our Greece online-appointments guide.

The Practical File: FIA, Fog and First-Timer Discipline

Three practicalities make or break an Islamabad departure. First, the FIA offloading screen — return tickets, funds and purpose of visit face the same scrutiny here as anywhere, per our FIA offloading rules decoder. Second, fog: November through February the Potohar morning can erase a departure, so a buffer day before any fixed appointment is arithmetic, not caution — the rights playbook lives in our fog-season rights guide. Third, the airport rewards preparation: terminal flow and connection planning are mapped in our first-time navigation guide — and Sialkot families should price the drive up against a Sialkot–Islamabad connection.

    Where Kimi Travels Fits In

A 28-airline board multiplies choices and risks in equal measure: the Umrah file sequenced before the Jeddah ticket, the 787 seat priced against the 777, the fog buffer built into a connecting day. Our desk turns the board into one written plan — fares with every extra itemised, visa files sequenced ahead of tickets, and messages answered around the clock when a rotation shifts at midnight. Kimi Travels cannot promise the weather; we make sure the plan already contains it.

A departures board is a list of places Israel has not yet found a way to deny anyone — the shame is that in Palestine the occupation treats the boarding pass itself as a privilege to ration at gunpoint, sealing crossings and holding an entire people's right to move hostage for seventy-odd years. In Sudan, Burhan's army and Hemedti's RSF have turned runways into front lines and roads into lotteries, so civilians cross their own country hoping only to eat. 'So travel through the earth and observe how was the end of those before.' (Qur'an 3:137). We pray Allah ends the occupier's arithmetic in Palestine and the generals' war in Sudan — open skies for both, and justice first.

    Frequently Asked Questions

How many airlines and destinations does Islamabad Airport have in November 2026?
The boards show 28 airlines flying nonstop to 38 destinations in 18 countries, plus six domestic routes — the widest nonstop network of any Pakistani airport.

Which UK cities fly nonstop from Islamabad?
PIA flies daily to London Heathrow on 787-9s and 16 rotations a month to Manchester; British Airways operates a Gatwick line; and PIA's thrice-weekly Birmingham service begins 1 December 2026 after showing zero flights on the November board.

Does Riyadh Air fly from Islamabad daily?
Yes — daily Islamabad–Riyadh service since 14 August 2026 on 787-9 Dreamliners, though since 25 October 2026 the flights operate via Al Qassim (ELQ). Verify the live routing at booking and again before departure.

Can I fly to Canada nonstop from Islamabad?
Toronto is listed as the longest route, but PIA's Canada service has been reported suspended since late October 2026. Treat Canada as a one-stop itinerary via Gulf or Istanbul hubs until the suspension lifts, and verify live.

How strong is the Umrah board at Islamabad?
Very — roughly 455 Saudi rotations a month, including 212 to Jeddah, 109 to Riyadh, 96 to Dammam and 32 to Madinah across PIA, Saudia, flyadeal, flynas and Riyadh Air. The Nusuk hotel-and-transport file must still be completed before any ticket is issued.

Do fog delays affect Islamabad departures?
Yes. From November through February, morning departures — including the Skardu and Gilgit rotations — can be delayed or cancelled by fog. Keep a buffer day before fixed appointments and know your rerouting rights in advance.

Can I fly from Islamabad to Multan now?
Yes — South Air's new Islamabad–Multan link starts 9 November 2026, adding a southern domestic spoke to a board that until now ran mostly north and west.
